Students We strive for diversity in our student body, enjoy a multi-cultural mix and embrace a diversity of views, self-expression, learning styles and cultures. Our student population derives from surrounding Chicago neighborhoods as well as from the south and southwest suburbs. Our students understand that it is their responsibility to help create a scholarly environment in our classrooms. Ridge Academy students can be characterized in the following way:

Thoughts From Ridge Academy Scholars “I like Ridge because the teachers are nice and the kids get along very well.” 1 st grader “I really like the teachers. They give you time to really think about your work.” 2 nd grader “I really like the challenging work that we receive at Ridge Academy . Also, when you need help, you can ask either the teachers or your classmates.” “The emphasis is on learning rather than getting the right answer.” 4 th grader “Whenever anyone needs help, there is someone there to assist them. Ridge Academy is a community that sticks together and helps each other out.” 5 th grader “At Ridge, we are given more freedom by our teachers. The pace is accelerated and we are doing Algebra in fifth grade. I really like the challenging work.” 5 th grader “I like the scholarly environment of Ridge Academy . Also, you can be accelerated if you already know some topics.” 8 th grader Ridge Academy Alumni We are proud of all graduates of Ridge Academy who have scored well on placement tests, received scholarships, and entered these outstanding high schools: Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, International Language Program of Morgan Park High School, Jones College Prep, Marist, Morgan Park Academy , Mount Carmel , Queen of Peace, St. Ignatius College Prep, Walter Payton and Whitney Young. Ridge Academy alumni attend American University , Cornell College , Roosevelt University , Trinity Christian College , University of Chicago and Washington University . As our elementary children move on and up in the world, we look forward to expanding this site to include their life stories. It will also be a place for alumni to keep in touch with the school and with one another. For now, we hope all who move on from Ridge Academy will use this site to keep their address records updated.
