The second graders are completing their reading of Charlotte's Web. As you probably remember from your childhood, this is a moving novel about friendship, particularly between Charlotte the spider and Wilbur the pig. We took the opportunity to enjoy the movie version of this tale on CD last Friday afternoon. What a touching story!
Last Thursday we joined the 3rd and 4th graders on an excursion to Lake Katherine, a nature preserve in Palos Heights. Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping to chaperone this event. Their extra support and questioning meant that our children were able to get lots of individual attention. In keeping with our theme on change, our class looked for signs of change in nature with the coming of autumn outside. We explored the herb garden and regular gardens, noted the waterfalls, and animal life. A high point of this trip was the hay ride on the wagon at the culmination of this outing. Come see our photo documentary on the wall in the foyer at school!
We will be enjoying a short Halloween party this Wednesday afternoon. The children can bring costumes to change into if you wish after Art Class. We will have a few games, crafts, and snacks. If you would like to bring some treats for them to pass out for trick or treat, that would be fine.
