Middle School

Ridge Academy students had the opportunity to role play the first and second wave of immigrants coming from Asia and finally settling in North and South America.  7th and 8th graders represented 6 regions of the first Native American tribes to settle during the Ice Age.  After doing much research, the middle school students gave presentations to the other students.  Included in their presentations were descriptions of the regions’ family lives, government, eating habits, and daily activities.  Students from the other grades then filled out a ballot stating which region they would choose to stay to live in and why.  Thanks to the 7th and 8th graders who provided a lively interactive method of learning for the 1st through 6th graders.  In turn, the other students asked great questions and by their responses on their ballots learned a lot, too.

Math was also a big event as shown below. Our Middle School students solve intricate binary problems also in this movie: .
The boys chose to translate a 66 digit binary number into its base ten number. The girls are seen below figuring out their ages in the binary number system.
